It recently came to my attention that the dev console is not possible to use on an Android device. I always assumed it was possible to use as long as the player had access to a keyboard. Well, it's not. You can open the console, but you can't submit any commands because the enter/return button just dismisses the mobile text input control. My apologies for that.
We plan to bring dev console support to mobile in the next update for SimplePlanes. In the meantime, Android can use this mod to have access to submit commands using the dev console by tapping the Execute Command button in the lower left. This also adds support for opening and closing the dev console using a 3-finger tap for those players who don't have a keyboard.

@AndrewGarrison its also come to my attention that when your in the room where your modifying a plane, mods built for that room are not useable, and error when trying to activate them. do you think this bug could be fixed in an update?
