Summer Clouds
A heavily customizable cloud generator with a focus in making large cloud formations.
The PC Download button links to the GitHub Releases Page. Click on the entry of the SPMOD file to download it.
Quick Start Guide
Activate the mod and enter any level. A default cloud settings profile will be loaded.
- The default profile can generate clouds of random intensity, from few small clouds to stormy formations.
- Restart the level to generate different clouds with the loaded profile.
Exit the game and go to the game's AppData folder.
- This is located in
[User folder]\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes
- The
NACHSAVE\CLOUDGEN
folder will be created. - The
CLOUDGEN.INI
file contains mod save data. It stores the name of the last profile loaded by the mod. - A selection of other INI files are provided. You can get them here (more may be added in the future)
- This is located in
Use the
LoadCloudSettings [string]
dev console command to load settings.- Pass the name of the file, including the file extension, as the argument of the command. The name is not case-sensitive. For example,
LoadCloudSettings fix25.ini
- Pass the name of the file, including the file extension, as the argument of the command. The name is not case-sensitive. For example,
Use the
RegenerateClouds
dev console command to reload the clouds.- This replaces the existing clouds with new ones, using the newly applied settings.
You are ready to start loading up different cloud profiles!
- Read the guide to learn how the cloud generator works, how you can write settings for it, and learn more about each of the settings.
Notice
Having more particles looks better but is one of the largest contributors to lag. I recommend 50,000 particles for dense, tall clouds, and up to 100,000 particles for scattered clouds.
You should also have larger particle intervals for larger cloud formations, as more particles will be near the aircraft. An interval of 400 or 500, with an additional head interval of 2, is good for most types of clouds. Faraway particles consume much fewer resources.
After generating clouds, a message stating the number of particles spawned will appear. Click on it to see the number of chunks (proportion of spawnable area) used. Increase the number of chunks or the size of the chunks to increase the spawnable area.
Commands
(Commands can only be run in the level)
LoadCloudSettings (string name)
Selects a cloud settings file to load next. The selected file will be loaded next when the RegenerateClouds command is run, or when the level is restarted.
string name
: Name of the file, including the file extension.
RegenerateClouds
Create new clouds. The previously chosen cloud settings will be automatically reloaded.

@hpgbproductions and can you tell where the regenerate clouds cause im kinda lazy
@hpgbproductions but i can't find [User folder]\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes
@hpgbproductions i found it!
@Masotan86 appdata folder may be hidden by default, so use the file explorer settings to show hidden folders
Also on mac, the file will be somewhere else, check the modding guide to find your simpleplanes folder
Dw about it, i'd like to blame mod settings mod's poor documentation for how i do things today
@hpgbproductions if says appdata folder and i dont have one try make it understandful for me, pls dont mad at me
@hpgbproductions ok
@Masotan86 unfortunately, all i can say is that if you follow the instructions above, you will know where to find the folder and what the different settings do. My limited programming ability and the history of simpleplanes modding (>5 years ago) lead to this kind of very cursed user experience
@hpgbproductions i dont have one on my folders can you send the link
@Masotan86 NACHSAVE\CLOUDGEN folder
@hpgbproductions well where's the cloud settings
@CoachPickles86 increase the maximum particle count for the cloud settings you are using, or try to decrease cloud density by making particles bigger and spread further apart
@hpgbproductions is there a way to make the clouds a bigger area for example
@IndonesianHoe if your filename has spaces, you must use double quotes
@hpgbproductions AWSOME! Super exited for that~
Can’t wait to fly through some clouds in my somewhat secret new build in progress
@poenix it has the XR folder so it should
So curious question, will this work properly in vr mode? I’d love to get proper clouds since allot of these mods and maps have been missing vr shaders since simpleplanes vr beta.
@CL125 i run at 70 fps with Wizzard's lancaster at max graphics! My phone does not care at all
I'm currently playing under like 15 to 30 fps. With this it's 0.5 fps XD. I like this mod, but I'll try it again in the future with a strong pc.
@Leopard2a9 go to the INI file that is currently used, and increase StartAltitude
The default loaded cloud settings is default.ini
the clouds look beautiful, but they are too low, how do i make them spawn higher?
@OrderlyHippo agreed
@WolfHunter9111 Yes. They could use the game’s built in weather system and add on to it. Heck, my biggest desire is for the wind to change dynamically like the weather!!!
@Lake Yeah and AI can see through the clouds lol. Are planes able to lock on through clouds in the real world???
It's so beautiful that I take many screenshots , but my laptop became too hot.🥵
