With the end of WWII and the beginning of the cold war it became obvious that aircraft range was critical to a countries ability to wage war (or defend itself) thus a number of contracts where issued to design and build aircraft that could refuel other aircraft thus extending their range and allowing for longer sorties.
Most of these aircraft designs where for large refuelers designed to keep V bombers and the like airborne but it was also noted that small observation and ground attack aircraft could also benefit from this technology along with helicopters and fast jets.
Bristol Aircraft company submitted a design for a lightweight twin turbo prop aircraft that could operate from rough fields and reach a speed of approx 500mph at low level to re-fuel smaller aircraft, this went into production as the Bristol Carburant and was adopted by a number of countries including New Zealand.

@FairFireFight But autolanding gear allows for sequencing of gear and doors so there is no clash, it also allows the linking of airbrakes and the like to different speeds.
I'm Not A Fan Of Automatic Landing Gear...
Like If You Keep Forgetting To Retract Your Landing Gear You've Probably Have Trouble Remembering Your Own Name , In Fact I Still Keep Retracting The Gear Out Of Habit Even On Bush Planes
What If I'm Forced To Make An Emergency Landing With One Wing? You've Got To Keep The Speed Up To Be Able To Compensate For The Missing Wing But Then There's No Landing Gear .
Interesting....
@Mmdben I had to attach them to something that wasn't going to get altered :)
@RamboJutter they confused me so much because they were attached to the cockpit glass,XD
@Mmdben they retract the black panels that give the effect of wheel bays.
@RamboJutter why are french words always the appropriate ones ? Begins to be weird 😅
@RamboJutter I have a small question:- What is the purpose of the three pistons under the cockpit ?
@WarHawk95 yep. Seemed appropriate really.
Really like the drogues
Carburant ?? Did you just name it "fuel" in french ?
