Boeing B-29A-30-BN Superfortress
Boing.
Yes, I made a B-29, again (I swear I have more B-29s than J2Ms at this point)
This took three days to make, which is a lot considering I'm a quick worker with a lot of free time.
Meet the Supperfortress (Mmm supper)
My most detailed replica since the Japanese P-39N-0.
Like the Airacobra, it lacks a real interior, but it has numerous features which make up for that.
Flying next to the Airacobra in question. You'd think the Japanese P-39 should be intercepting the B-29, but I guess this one just didn't feel like it.
For Starters (important)
TURN OFF ACTIVATION GROUP 8. In order to make it perform as a normal bomber when AI-controlled, the B-29 naturally has a gyroscope which can be activated via group 8. You MUST turn it off to takeoff or maneuver. It can be activated and used in flight (of course), which can be helpful for both bombing and gunning. I will add this, though: when using the Gyroscope, set your flaps to max down so that you won't lose altitude.
By toggling Activation Group 1 on, you'll engage the bomb-bays, and the payload inside. The B-29 possesses twin bomb bays, each carrying several 500 pound bombs. In total, you have 24 of these bombs. Drop them well, and pretty much everything will be destroy- no I didn't give it a nuke. This isn't the Silverplate edition.
Next up is the gunnery turrets. All of the turrets are camera controlled. On one hand, this means you can only use one at a time, as well as making it physically impossible for the AI to utilize them. On the other hand, though, this makes the turrets pretty easy to use while flying them. And because I am a credible source, who doesn't send Warhawks to fight Superfortresses, here are some MiG-15s, to prove that the B-29's turrets are deadly defenders.
There were three, all of which were shot down, but I was so invested in the fight that I only took a pic of one. The first picture is taken from the top-back turret just moments after the fatal hit, the second one is taken from the tail gunner position as the MiG-15 falls to the sea.
Last features: All control surfaces operate, flaps can be activated via the VTOL lever, Trim is functional, landing gear operates as normal, lights turned on by Activation Group 7.
That's all, have fun!
Here's some bonus pics.
Fighter Escort!
Uh...

Yeah, I dropped two bomb(er)s at once. It's good to be back.
