Matilda II
The Matilda II tank was designed in 1937 as an infantry support tank. It was meant to replace the Matilda I, which was armed with only a machine gun and lightly armored, and the latter was abandoned in 1940. The Matilda II, or A12, carried a QF-2 pounder gun with a coaxial Besa machine gun. The Matilda II was a force to be reckoned with in the deserts of North Africa against Italian tankettes and German Panzer 1s, 2s, and 3s. They had a high resistance to artillery, but like many tanks before, fell to the German 88 mm gun.
Some fun facts:
-There are no return rollers, there’s a skid that the track slides against.
-The holes in the side skirts are for mud and sand, though mud often got stuck in the tracks anyway.
-The Matilda’s driver’s hatch opens by rolling back, instead of opening like a traditional hatch.
Armament:
1 x 40 mm (2 pounder) main gun
1 x coaxial 7.92 (not 7.62, it’s an odd British round) Besa machine gun.
Controls:
I use an Xbox controller plugged into my pc so the controls are strange but I’ll change it if anyone has trouble.
Throttle: Move forward at a blistering 15mph.
Roll: Turn
VTOL: Traverse turret
Trim: Gun elevation
Pitch back: Reverse - This is so you can reverse without changing the throttle position.
Flares: Smoke (For best results, spam flares and traverse turret to cover tank)
Camera 1: Driver’s Periscope
Camera 2: Gunner’s Periscope
Cockpit : Gunner’s Coaxial Sight
Have Fun! =)
