[BLU] PF-7J2 Squall
Red V Green!
But ironically, it's a Blue fighter... Huh.
No matter! Meet the PF-7J2 Squall! Introducing a new era of Red V Green!
So far, the said "eras" of Red V Green would be...
-Concept phase: RvG was planned long before the P-2 Stormer was even built.
-Fresh phase: The very first RvG planes, made with as much quality as I could muster back then with the skills I had. The Fresh Phase ends with the PF-8A1 Ambusher, simply because this was the point where Red V Green was starting to mature and gain traction.
-Rising phase: The Rising Phase should technically end with the BP-37 "Diveblaster," but the Diveblaster was actually from the Fresh Phase and only came last due to posting errors, so the Rising Phase actually ends with the F-2A Inferno.
-Developmental phase: The Developmental phase, also acceptably called the Intermediate Phase, was a small phase of aircraft made during my rapid skill inclines. This phase starts with the P-14D Counterfighter, includes the F-5X Enforcer, A-23B Renegade, MP-41 Blizzard Refined, F-55A Stormfighter, B-23A Strongarm, and ending with the B-30A Warscreech. This phase of aircraft notably has fuselage smoothing, custom thumbnails, improved flight quality, and more advanced altogether. However, few if any have full custom landing gear, and custom cockpits almost nonexistent on smaller aircraft, namely fighters.
-Modern TUPL phase: The Modern Phase is currently the smallest phase, but it hopefully won't stay that way for long. Modern Phase RvG aircraft are almost entirely custom, like the PF-7J2 here. They also have smoothed fuselages and custom thumbnails. Overall, Modern phase implements much higher detail than previous versions, to the point where this one even has the new Blue Roundel.
So, let's talk about the actual Squall now.
In lore, the Squall was originally, as its letter-number designation suggests, a predecessor to the PF-8 Ambusher. However, due to the Squall's unconventional design, engineers needed more time to cook up a combat-worthy fighter. Meanwhile, the PF-8A1 quickly passed inspections and moved on to be the legendary first jet fighter of the Red V Green war.
Sometime after all this, the PF-7, specifically the PF-7J1, had finally proven sufficient for and entered combat. At first it saw little service outside of the interceptor role, becoming famous for wreaking havoc amongst Red B-31B Crushers.
Above: Red's B-31Bs are known for their heavy armor, but it can't defend from the PF-7's heavy guns.
However, as the PF-7J1 gained popularity, now officially dubbed "Squall," it began to see fighter-to-fighter combat. Once this happened, the Squall became known as a force more terrifying than any storm.
Above: The P-32 "Razor" was one of the only aircraft capable of consistently winning against the MP-41 (albeit the Razors took their fair share of losses too). For some reason, though, it didn't see nearly as much success against the PF-7.
The PF-7, prior to its service as a dogfighter, received an upgrade; the PF-7J2. The J2 variant featured two extra guns, both mounted on the nose, stronger engines, larger intakes, and more durable rear landing gear. Admittedly, the Squall wasn't as fast as some fighters like the legendary MP-41, topping in close to 1400 mph (as opposed to the Squall which topped out at about 1280 mph in a dive). However, the Squall's advanced twin jet engines allowed it to fly higher without stalling or slowing down. As a result, the Squall could almost effortlessly outclimb any opponent, and its service ceiling of about 64,000 feet decimated the 59,000 foot ceiling of the P-32 and 48,000 foot ceiling of the MP-41.
Above: Red was indisputably hit the hardest by the Squalls, but Green took some losses to the PF-7 as well, take for example this P-14D Counterfighter.
The PF-7 was a terrifying opponent, and like many Blue jets, few if any pilots knew how to effectively counter it once it entered combat. However, a few weaknesses were spotted. For one, its armor was the textbook definition of terrible, to the point where (non AA) tanks and infantry have managed to shoot down low-flying PF-7s with small arms. To make matters worse, the PF-7 was an incredibly compact and jam-packed aircraft, which not only meant it was fragile, but an attacker could pierce virtually anywhere on the PF-7 and it would be critical. Admittedly, the mobility and firepower of the Squall made exploiting this weakness a difficult task, but Green's P-62 Centerfire was one of the best aircraft for fighting the PF-7 at the time. Its role as a Squall counter would later be succeeded by the P-12C, P-62D, and F-55 Stormfighter of all variants.
Above: Squalls normally have no problem flying into enemy territory, but that doesn't mean the defending Centerfires approve.
Below: Ironically, however, P-62s seemed to have no problem intruding into other territory.
Now...
Fun Facts:
-The P-44 "Chunki" was considered the PF-7's true arch rival. This was for two reasons, the first being that they had incredibly similar designs, and the second being that the P-44 was the first fighter to shoot down an PF-7, and for a while proved deadly against it.
-The PF-7 was the first aircraft of the RvG War to use stabilitors, but for some reason they were rarely seen again until the late 1950s.
-Many PF-7s did fall into enemy hands, but due to its low armor, the shoot-down itself combined with the ground impact made any remnants virtually unrecognizable and impossible to use. Smart thinking, Blues.
-A PF-7 once went up to 80,000 feet, but the aircraft lost control and flat spinned all the way to 12,000 where the pilot bailed. Moments later though, the plane nose-dived and started rolling as if it could've been controlled. RiP lol. Good news is, the pilot survived it all.

@CrestelAeronautics do clue me in?
@TheUltimatePlaneLover
Gets idea for an anomaly
@SuperSuperTheSylph RGBP, we have yet to see them but Purple team exists too, but they're mostly a tank force.
@Karroc9522 Actually it did, due to the PF-7J2's performance, pilots often had to fly it through the wreckage of their own victims. Normally this worked out, but several instances did end with the PF-7 damaged.
RG(B) fighters :)
@TheUltimatePlaneLover honestly, every pic except one looks like it flew through the other plane lol. Adds kind of an amusing idea to it, just saying.
P.s. heh dumb red plen didn't see it coming!
@TheUltimatePlaneLover ok
@LoganTheGameDev Quite literally it means Blue, a while back I started a series called Red V Green, but ironically Blue team is actually the strongest in spite of their mysterious nature. There's a whole lore to it that I can't explain right now lol
We must not fight eachother, for the mouse is our common enemy
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 how can one no longer be BEFORE something? He may be here, but we still came first
What does [BLU] mean
@C47skytrain at the time you weren't
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 wrong, for I am as well
