Following the success of the Spitfire during WWII, Supermarine embarked on the next step of their aviation story.
With the advent of jet power and the advancement of aerodynamic understanding they set out to create a single seat advanced jet trainer that could also be utilised in the light ground attack/interdiction role.
As a tribute to R J Mitchell the new aircraft was named the Scarab (the name he originally wanted to give to the renowned Spitfire).
VTOL down = flaps
LandingGear = retract wheels and lower undercarriage doors
AG2= Main gear door retraction
AG3= Arrestor hook
AG5= Nav lights
AG7= fold wings
