Weapons Load-out: Multirole

Introduction

The VerdAir Pegasus is a twin-engine, single seat, canard delta wing multirole fighter designed and developed by VerdAir Corporation. It was one of the last propasals chosen for the Optimal Fighter Jet Program that was later developed. Due to the Veridisian military's technological limitations in the 1970s to mid-1980s, development of a prototype began in July 1986. It made a successful first flight on September 14, 1988 and was introduced into Veridisian military service on January 3, 1992, ending the 18-year Optimal Fighter Jet Program since the VerdAir Valkyrie's maiden flight in April 1974.
Originally designed as a multirole fighter to have the same qualities as its predecessors, it was one of the most technologically advanced aircraft at the time as it made use of advanced computer software programs to gather information about its environment, a touch interface to simplify interaction between its flight systems, a powerful radar that can generate real-time maps for its user in the case of a precise ground-attack mission, an IRST sensor, and an airframe designed to reduce radar detection. Later variants would apply elements from the Dassault Rafale, an aircraft technologically comparable to the Pegasus.
Initially, the aircraft was fitted with two VE-JE-700 turbofan engines. Later variants would fit the more powerful VE-JE-760 turbofan engines to improve the Pegasus' performance in air-to-air combat and to carry more armament in certain military operations.
The aircraft is was one of the few modern Veridisian warplanes that had been exported to other countries in and out of the Wykyllan continent. One notorious example is Kaiser PMC. The paramilitary organization purchased fifty Pegasi in 1996 and were used to bomb civilian infrastructure in neighboring Emerald Kingdom. An arms embargo was imposed on Kaiser in 1997, and procurement of the Pegasus to the paramilitary organization was permanently suspended the following year. After Operation Crystal Angel in 2004, most of Kaiser's operating fleet of Pegasi have either been destroyed or shot down.
