[AIRTREN] A-94 BIG BERTHA
Designed in the 40s. The prototype was an heavy strategic bomber, due to the company being new and only making airliners and lacked experience therefore the program was unsuccessful. And the company faced bankruptcy when the war ended, so they converted existing aircraft into airliners. The conversion was finished in February of 1946. Few were made, roughly estimating 50-60. The company filed for bankruptcy in December of 1947.
Existing aircraft were either scrapped after bankruptcy or sold before then. Exact numbers that still exist today is unknown. It's estimated that about 15-21 exist. Here's one of them. Did I mention those engines were just resized Wright R-1820-97 nine cylinder air-cooled single row radial engines?
