History

The Su-24-2-Delta is an experimental frontline bomber produced in a single instance to test the concept of a delta wing bomber. The project to redesign the serial production Su-24 was launched at Sukhoi Design Bureau in 2021 and was named "Izdelie 6-2" (Product 6-2). On April 25, 2022, the 6-2 made its maiden flight, in which it demonstrated good controllability and excellent speed characteristics. Over the course of six months, various tests were conducted, showing that the aircraft was good in every respect. The armament of the aircraft consists of a revolving missile launch system with eight X-555M2 cruise missiles, as well as two cluster bombs X-77MK2 and four air-to-air missiles on the underwing pylons. The prototype is currently being tested and refined, and the possibility of the aircraft being used by the Air Force of the Russian Federation is being discussed.

Fun fact: While everyone else was scrambling to get on a lifeboat on the titanic John Jacob Astor ran to the bottom and unlocked the dogs out of the crates and died saving 4 dogs who went on the lifeboat.
