Type 59 Medium Tank (code developed in China: WZ120, English: type 59 medium tank) is a medium tank copied and equipped by China in 1950s with reference to Soviet T-54A medium tank. This tank has a total combat weight of 34 tons, 4 crew members, a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour and a maximum travel of 560 kilometers. The main weapons are a 100 mm rifling gun, with a combat firing rate of 7 rounds per minute, a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun and two 7.62 mm machine guns. The armor at the head and side of the car body is thick, and the turret is streamlined, which has good anti-ballistic ability. The tank has strong firepower, good armor protection and maneuverability, light weight, simple structure, reliable operation and convenient use and maintenance. Type 59 medium tank is the first generation of domestic main battle tank equipped by China. The tank was installed in the Chinese army in 1959, and was the main equipment of Chinese armored forces until the 1980s.
