Please do ask questions if need be since I'm not particularly confident in my explanation

< Hello and welcome! >

The Committee challenge-

Basically, This is something along the lines of a vintage airliner challenge, with a catch, the build must roughly fit the requirements of one or more of the types listed by a fictional 'post war design committee' (like for example the british Brabazon Committee)

The aircraft you build should roughly fit at least one of the presented types, or be something along the lines of a private venture which its thought could realistically be satisfactory to the committee even if it doesn't necessarily fit one of the types presented.

Creation can be a replica as long as it fits one of the types

Rules:

-min parts : 200
-max parts : ~1500
-no mod parts, xml okay

-Entry should be a successor of this post, either build it as one,
or ask a mod to make it a successor.

-performance must be somewhat realistic, must be able to fly,
controls should be either in description or craft instructions.

The types -

(most are taken from the Brabazon Committee but made to be a little less specific)
(Honestly it would be better if you would just create your own, as long as it seems to fulfill a fairly realistic role)

Type 0 - Adaptation of a military aircraft into civilian use until newer models can be developed.
real life examples: Avro York, Avro Tudor, Handley Page Hermes, DC-4 and Constellation (originally transports), Avro Lancastrian...

Type I - a very large , long-range landplane for trans-Atlantic routes.
In real life developed into the Bristol Brabazon

Type IIA- a piston-powered short-haul feederliner (regional Airliner) intended to replace the Douglas DC-3.

Type IIB- a short-haul feederliner (regional Airliner) using the new turboprop engine, the Type IIA piston design serves as a "backup" to this one.

Type III- a larger four-engine, medium-range aircraft, for various multi-hop routes serving the Empire, the "Medium Range Empire" (MRE) routes.
In real life developed into the Bristol Britannia

Type IV- a jet-powered, ~100-seat high-speed transport.
The Type IV could, if the whole concept of a jet airliner could be made to work, be able to replace the Type III outright and assume many of the duties of the other planes in shorter routes.

Type VA- a fourteen-passenger, feederliner (regional) aircraft.

Type VB- an eight-seat, smaller take on the Type VA

each entry will be judged out of 8 in:

-Design
The design and creativity of your build, and the accuracy if its a replica.
-Performance
Speed, maneuverability, etc..., though I’m kind of forgiving here (since my own planes aren’t any good), if it flies and doesn’t feel too unrealistic you’ll be fine.
-Detail
The paint scheme and alike.
-Build quality
general quality of the build, again, somewhat forgiving here since my own
builds aren't too much to speak of.
-relation to the challenge
how well it fits the selected type/ quality of the lore if you chose to create an aircraft which doesn’t really fit any type or is” unsuccessful”
-Presentation
The thumbnail, description, images etc…`

Deadline is 5th-10th of June

Rewards:

1st place: 20 upvotes + 4 spotlights if possible
2nd place: 15 upvotes + 2 spotlights if possible
3rd place: 10 upvotes

  • Each entry will get one upvote regardless.

be aware that I don’t take the blame if you don’t have enough posts to receive the entire reward or if you have more points than me, though I’m still thinking about maybe turning the spotlights into a smaller sum of upvotes if I can’t spotlight.

Hope you have fun and enjoy this weird challenge of mine

I don't have high hopes since its a very niche and maybe a bit restrictive challenge, but still, I hope people do try and compete and even enjoy this.

Thank you comrade! And again, I wish there were more entries in this challenge, I would have loved to check out all the other entries too

@XAircraftManufacturer Its the only plane lol so I'm going to wait a couple of days and then just probably give you all the rewards _(- -)_/

Hey, I'm sorry for the delay with my plane, it is close to being finished and should be done either late today or tomorrow 😥

@Applejuice2 I don't particularly like straying from my own rules, but given that I don't think there are going to be many entries, I guess I can allow that, but please do try to get to at least ~150

Sorry if this question is dumb but what if min part count was reduced to 100? Because some of the smaller aircraft classes would be tough to make

My W-2000 was initially meant as a bomber converted into an SST, but I changed the lore so I can't enter it anymore

@LonelyAustrianUhlan alright, thank you so much, I'll try to make a more unique plane for this challenge!

@XAircraftManufacturer Thank you for your interest, the name could be whatever you want, all that is required is for the plane to at least somewhat fit one of the types and state which type it is in your description or fictional lore etc...
    .
So for the Type IV, it should be something along the lines of an early jetliner, of around ~100 (so 75-120) passengers (you can just say its a shorter/longer version), which should at least look like it can operate medium or long range routes.
And honestly, specifically for the Type IV, it could just be any kind of early jetliner since no one had experience building those, and no one knew if they would be viable or how to operate them.

If I enter the challenge how should I name my plane? Does it have to be like in the description? I'd like to do something for Type IV
