HNLMS Van Kinsbergen (1939)
History
'Van Kinsbergen' (named after a Dutch naval officer) was sloop of the Royal Netherlands Navy (Koninklijke Marine) launched in 1939 and entered service in the same year. She was the only ship of her class. Throughout WW2 she participated in many convoy escort and patrol missions, during which she captured multiple enemy ships with a total tonnage of 49.486 t, achieving this mostly in the early years of the war. During her time in WW2, she received the nickname "Flying Dutchman". After the war, her armament was converted to that of a frigate and she continued to be active for a few more years, until 1959 when she was sold for scrap.
Gunnery exercise at high speed
Now about my build!
This build features:
- Accurate size and (close to) accurate speed (with functional propellers and rudder)
- Usable Primary cannons
- Full Bridge interior with usable equipment
- A walker model to walk around on the bridge
- Centralized aiming system with a detailed rangefinder HUD inside the walker's binoculars (so you don't have to switch cameras anymore
- Highly detailed exterior
Controls:
Activation Groups:
AG1 - Activate guns + raise binoculars to the walker's eyes
AG2 - Disable guns and reset them to default position
AG3 - Enable/Disable AA guns
AG5 - Walker activate/deactivate (deactivation will make him stay at where he is and won't move)
AG6 - Searchlights ON/OFF
AG7 - Window lights
Ship Controls:
VTOL - Propulsion
Trim - Steering
Cameras:
CAM1 "Gert" - Walker first person view
CAM2 "Gert orbit" - Walker third person view (note: you can't turn him in this view)
A note for launch: The ship has a fine tuned buoyancy system to dampen waves on the Ocean mod and make her sail over them more smoothly. However, due to this, the ship has a bit rough start: upon launch it'll keep bouncing on the water and will take a lot of time to settle. To solve this, please temporarily switch the ocean off and wait for the ship to settle, then you can switch it on again and it will work fine.
Info for the Gunnery HUD:
Colors:
- RED - Gun is not capable of reaching the set bearing
- ORANGE - Gun is capable of reaching the set bearing but is still doing so (they turn a bit a slow)
- GREEN - Gun is aiming at the set bearing
- BLUE - Guns are reset to default position (won't train to set bearing)The guns can hit your own ship, especially if you are aiming down (setting the ranging to a negative %) so be careful with that.
Other info:
You can use the bridge equipment (Steering wheel, Engine Order Telegraph) both in VR and with your mouse on screen, just click and hold the handles on them
The text on the Engine Order Telegraph is in Dutch for the sake of authenticity, but here is a rough translation:
The doors on the bridge can by opened and closed by clicking on the door handle

@BMilan oooh, ok, that makes alot of sense. I was kinda thinking maybe it helped with the list when turning but that makes more sense. Thank you for explaining lol.
@PapaKernels The disabled hinges serve as a wave dampening system, to make sailing on the ocean mod smoother, I explained the idea of it in detail in this comment. ShiroNeko came up with this system and I have been using it since my Borodino
Hey, so im making a boat finally, and i downloaded this to get some help on the hull shape and noticed there were what i assume are what make it float on disabled hinges, and i was just wondering what they did.
Enemy ship link?
Waaaaaaaaa
@QuitesUK Sorry, I don't take any requests at the moment, my backlog is already way too long
Can you do battleship Espana
@Jsoeidm2 Hello. After much thinking about it, I think the answer is sadly no. It has been in devlopment hell for like, forever (I did start working on it back then but didn't get too far with it) and it's unlikely that I'll pick it up again. I'm sorry to disappoint, it seems that mobile friendly builds are just not my thing...
Hi juat askinh but are you ever going to finish the mobile version of the rms olympic?
@BMilan hi hello how are you?
@LunarEclipseSP me too
oh you're back and with a nice ship too
Finally some Koninklijke Marine representation
it's 2024 lets goooo!
@BMilan kind of a shame honestly, because i can DEFINETLY tell that you've put in just as much effort into this battleship build as you did with your previous works
@DatFiat126Fan19 It's a very unkown ship (I mean, the only reason I know about it is because of wows too) and it seems my teaser post wasn't enough to get people interested before the post
@BMilan why the fuck is no one else but me asked for a tag lmfao
@BMilan thank you
@Zhixunlin23 I might, I have some plans but Im also horrible at executing my plans xd
but I'll try, I have few things in cooking
@BMilan just wondering are you going to make any mobile friendly ships possibly?
Nice ship
@LunarEclipseSP yup, that was intentional:)
