de Bruyere C.1
Well, well, well, my friends. It has indeed been a hot minute.
In my time in college, I have finally regained my interest in constructing replicas of lesser-known aircraft. Today, I publish my replica of the de Bruyere C.1, a French experimental aircraft from 1917, and a remake of my former attempt to make this aircraft, one of I believe two on this site.
In April of 1917, Marcel de Bruyere would finally get a chance to test his extremely experimental design, encompassing many strange and unused features of the time, such as:
- Metal Body
- Canard Elevator
- Tricycle Gear
- 37mm Cannon
- Downwards-facing circular windows (not included on this one)
Its one flight was met with utter disregard and embarrassment for Bruyere, as the aircraft failed to secure stable flight, and rotated onto its top, nearly killing the pilot, but thankfully no one was injured. It achieved only 25 feet of fight.
Flight Mechanics
The aircraft, as can be seen by its ridiculous design, was very unstable, as it also is in this game. I have fine-tuned what I could to achieve plausible flight mechanics for it.
Take-off Speed: ~40 Knots (46 MPH)
Stall Speed: ~36 Knots (40 MPH)
Max Speed: ~75 Knots (86 MPH)
Controls
- Standard Flight Controls

@Trainzo
Merci beaucoup!
Very nice and original plane . Great build .
@Boeing727200F oh yes, true that. France did have about a hundred extremely modern, and even better than German tanks, but not in great enough numbers compared to the inter-war merde they produced
@LieutenantSOT yeah, they are known for some interesting designs, also some very bad designs. a great example of my statement are french early ww2 tanks
@Boeing727200F
Indeed! It was quite a silly design. It did not fly nearly at all, but it gave a lot of ideas for the planes in the future. I love how all French designs can be spotted immediately. Talk about brand marketing lol
this was a real plane!?
and it is french- oh that explains its interesting design
This thing is by far the most fun plane ive ever flown in this game. It just handles so weirdly that its just so fun lol
