The AH-2K Spartan is a Paternian attack helicopter manufactured by Bandit Aerospace Corporation. An improvement over the AH-2E, it replaces the fixed 30mm M15 revolver cannon for a turret-mounted 20mm M61 Vulcan Gatling cannon, aimed by the gunner. In addition, an illuminator has been added to the aircraft, allowing it to lock on and engage targets within a +10/-60 degree elevation and +60/-60 degree traverse. Such allow the gunner to engage targets which are not directly in front of the aircraft. While the M61 has far more limited anti-armor potential than the M15, the M61 Vulcan has the ability to engage targets in a large area in front of the helicotper, has greater ammunition capacity, superior volume of fire, and has less restrictions on its use, allowing it to be fired against targets closer to enemy forces in close proximity to potential collateral. The AH-2K features improved avionics control, replacing mechanical controls with fly-by-wire systems. The rest of the aircraft remains identical to the AH-2E.
