Fairey Schneider Cup Entry
This is fairey's entry to the famous Schneider Cup of 1919. The competition was dogged by an intense fog with most entries giving up after the first lap. The Italian team claimed victory but were later disqualified for cheating (probably for diving in the penalty box no doubt). So what have I changed? She has been put on a diet, engine power increased, wings clipped and is way faster and more manoeuvrable. I've tried to make it again realistic in terms of performance so top speed is around the 160mph mark. Apologies about the 4 bladed prop, the real one only had 2 but I tried to squeeze more top speed out of the measly Cessna type engine! On the white fuselage section it should have 'Fairey' emblazoned on it and a '1' on the tail but I was hesitant about adding weight and couldn't make the lettering work anyway! Goggles on, chocks away, last one backs a.....!
