Rocker Top-Break
The Rocker Top-Break was a Paternian-made service pistol designed to compete with the Carlton Arms M82 revolver. As named, it was designed with a top-break action, similar to a double-barrel shotgun. The operator releases the catch, allowing the cylinder and barrel unit to pivot forward for reloading. The main advantage of this system over the Carlton M82's swing-out cylinder is the speed of reloading; opening the breech automatically ejected cartridges, where the M82 required a separate action to eject the shells. This came at the price of frame strength, which was an issue when hotter ammunition was fired regularly. Despite this, the Top-Break revolver was a very popular revolver, with millions manufactured worldwide. In Paternian service, it was known as the M98, issued to supplement the then-standard M82 revolver. Like the M82, the Top-Break is still manufactured today.
