XR-12

101k Kerbango  6.9 years ago

To commemorate the launch of the SimpleRockets.com website, I decided to build a rocket.
Here is the experimental rocket number twelve. The XR-12.

To launch:
Prepare the engines by throttling up to 100%.
When the countdown reaches zero, activate the booster engines, AG 1, and the main engines, AG 2.

First stage separation:
Deactivate the boosters Ag 1, and press AG 3.
Parachutes for the boosters is AG 5.

Second stage separation:
Deactivate the main engines AG 2, and separate using AG 4.
Parachutes for the main tank is AG 6.

The crew capsule is able to maneuver with pitch and roll in flight.
For capsule descent:
Wait until 2500 feet before deploying parachutes with AG 7. (Depending upon descent speed, of course.)
Throttle to about 10% for slower descent.
Use the cameras all around for many dynamic views.
Have fun.

@8bitgamer33 all I can say is, "Try again." Making sure that you deactivate the boosters before you separate them.
Thanks for enjoying this rocket it's a good one.

I dropped the upper section at 5000 feet and it was damaged even with parachutes deployed.

    @Kerbango i agree it's actually very similar

@clayman0 With a little bit of modification and a lot of details, the XR-12 could easily be made into an SLS or be a lighter and smaller alternative.
