Short Bio on USS Monitor's History
USS Monitor is a Turreted iron clad warship owned by the Union during the American Civil War she had been designed and constructed as a reaction to the Southern construction of the casemate Frigate CSS Virginia. USS Monitors Construction Began October, 25th, 1861 and completed/launched January, 30th, 1862 a little less than a year later, Monitor would Engage CSS Virginia shortly after her commissioning. The Monitor was lost at sea during a storm December, 31'st, 1862 off of the Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
USS Monitor's Armament
She was originally supposed to mount 15 Inch Smooth bore Dahlgren guns
They were never completed on time so 11 inch guns were substituted
