IJ-2 Tengoku
The IJ-2 Tengoku is the pinnacle of Ishikawan aerospace engineering, developed to extend the nation's air superiority following the defensive success of the IJ-1 Kaze. The development of the Tengoku began in 1975, halfway through the IJ-1 Program, and took a full eight years to complete. The aircraft was finalized in 1983, entering service officially on November 21st, 1983. This extended development period allowed for the integration of the most advanced technologies available at the time, making the Tengoku a cutting-edge fighter designed to dominate both air and ground combat.
Powered by two MI-60 afterburning engines, the Tengoku reaches a maximum speed of Mach 1.26 at an altitude of 643 meters above sea level, making it a high-speed adversary capable of outmaneuvering most competitors. Its design incorporates large wings for exceptional lift, dual vertical stabilizers for stability, and adjustable inlets that optimize airflow for maximum engine efficiency across a range of flight conditions. With a power-to-weight ratio exceeding 1.2, the Tengoku is known for its rapid acceleration and impressive agility, making it a formidable presence in any aerial engagement.
The aircraft is armed with a versatile array of weapons, including two AIM-9M Sidewinders in internal bays for stealth and reduced drag, an AIM-120C AMRAAM mounted on the belly for beyond-visual-range engagements, and a nose-mounted M61A1 20mm Gatling gun for close-quarters combat. This balanced armament allows the Tengoku to engage a wide variety of targets, from enemy fighters to bombers, with both precision and overwhelming firepower.
With its combination of speed, firepower, and cutting-edge technology, the IJ-2 Tengoku represents the zenith of Ishikawan air dominance. Its name, "Tengoku"—meaning "Heaven" or "Heavenly"—captures the divine fury it brings to the skies, symbolizing a force of supreme strength and precision.
The Tengoku is not just a fighter; it is an embodiment of Ishikawa’s aerospace ambition, a true "Heavenly Fury" ready to conquer the skies.
