KMX-80 is a main battle tank designed by Austia and first delivered to the Austian Army in August 1978. The first five tanks were issued to the 501st Tank Regiment in August of that year. The production version of the KMX-30F1 weighed 30 Tonnes (which is heavy at the time) due to Sacrifice of Mobility for protection, Austia believed that it would have required too much armour to protect against the latest anti-tank threats, thereby reducing the tank's mobility, Protection, instead, was provided by the compact dimensions of the vehicle, including the height of 3.1 meter's, it had a KL70 115mm smoothbore cannon that fires APFSDS, HEAT and HESH, Mobility was provided by a powerful KJ-3200 Diesel engine, although the troublesome transmission adversely affected the tank's performance.
