The 183 mm QF L4A1 is a British tank armament used on the FV4005. It is the largest gun putted on a tank, the L4A1 is basically a modified BL 7.2-inch howitzer for tank use.

How HESH works:
HESH Is a slow speed round That uses concussive explosive energy to damage the interior of the target, HESH Rounds contains a thin casing with a plastic explosive that flattens against the target before exploding, once the round is partially "squashed" the plastic explosive ignites, the concussive energy transfer through and pieces of the armor or equipment inside become the destructive elements.

Note: HESH Rounds need Rifled cannons since its a slow speed and it needs that spinning gyro-scopic effect for stabilization, and since this is a British favorite, It pretty much explains why UK still uses Rifled guns instead of Smoothbore like every other modern MBT.
