Blackburn Basilisk B.1 Strategic Bomber Challenge
A fictional V-Bomber (or B-Bomber, in this case).
The Blackburn Basilisk B.1. Respendent in her anti-flash white scheme.
Year of introduction - 1955
Brief Description - This was an unsuccessful attempt by Blackburn Aviation to get in on the V-Bomber act. The MOD, being the unimaginative sods that they are, decided against the Basilisk because the Yanks were having issues with thier own «flying wing» (note - around this time Northrop was engaged in tests of the YB-49) and the RAF didnt think that a-they could get it to work and b-the brass didnt want to upset the Yanks in the event they did... Besides which, Blackburn being Blackburn went with a «B» name. Not good marketing at all...
The result being that only one prototype - a B mk1 - airframe number XL 100 was completed and flown.
She was later completed for operations and added to the V-Bomber force after the issues with the wing spars on the Valiant were uncovered. No further examples were completed.
Controls!
AG1- droop flaperons. This will result in changing roll control into reversed yaw control. This wasnt a success, Im not proud of it, so best leave this AG alone.
AG3 - close / open bomb bay
AG4- drop bomb load
AG7- lights
Vtol - flaps
Trim - trim pitch attitude (note this is reversed!)
