Description

The T-88A is a modernization of the T-88 main battle tank which was developed after the Soviets needed an upgrade from their older T-72’s and problem riddled T-80 tanks. The T-88 program was abandoned in 1989 and then restarted as the T-90. In 2017, the Dosnian Armed Forces was given these T-88 tank prototypes for further development and modernization and fielding of these tanks by the Dosnian Army. In August of 2018, the first prototype T-88A was produced, featuring a new electro-optical active protection suite, dubbed, “Slepoy”, meaning “blind” in Russian. The system was a further development of the “Shtora” system used by Russian T-90 main battle tanks. The T-88A also featured a 2A46M-5 125MM smoothbore gun capable of launching ATGMs. This newer gun developed in Russia has produces more muzzle energy and has a higher fire rate when compared to any NATO gun due to the fact that this tank used a new carousel auto-loader system developed for the new tank in Dosnia. The T-88A also sports new ERA blocks on addition to to the already capable armor equipped on this tank. This makes this tank capable of fighting even after receiving multiple hits by the enemy.
