Changed default rotation of wing to level for traditional takeoff. To VTOL: Slide VTOL slider up. 100% power. As the plane rises, it will start to tip back. Push forward on the elevator and slide the VTOL slider to neutral. Plane will climb vertical, but will gain speed then you can level it out.
