About the F-105
The Republic F-105 Thunderchief is an American fighter-bomber that served with the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1984. Capable of Mach 2, it conducted the majority of strike bombing missions during the early years of the Vietnam War; it is the only American aircraft to have been removed from combat due to high loss rates.[1] It was originally designed as a single-seat, nuclear-attack aircraft; a two-seat Wild Weasel version was later developed for the specialized Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) role against surface-to-air missile sites. The F-105 was commonly known as the "Thud" by its crews.

how did the US lost? technically they withdrew, because they got bored with Nam (it was the watergate scandal) , they have done so much damage to North Vietnam already.

@Kangy So „mission accomplished“? You gotta be kiddin: Vietnam was a f*cking disaster, both in terms of PR and traumatic damage to all nations involved. But we’re way too far into politics here anyway, let’s talk about planes again.
Vietnam was thought as a block in a line of Asian countries which would turn to communism.
Essentially the west wanted to contain this spread throughout Asia which was achieved, only 5 communist states remain which is a lot less than the 16 at its peak.
