Tintin plane (Bellanca 31-40)

9,295 JetstreamAeroEngineering  6.9 years ago

Not too long ago I was watching the Adventures of Tintin movie again and thought that I should build the plane that Tintin and Captian Haddock manage to steal. There is not too much to go off of (image-wise) so I had to make best with what I could see. This is an amphibious plane and cannot land on land despite the landing gear you see, they only serve aesthetic purposes only.
[INSTRUCTIONS]
It is still a little tricky taking off of water. Before you throttle up, put the trim slider down 50% (or to the first arrow) then throttle up to 100%. when you reach 114mph then your at takeoff speed. Now for the hardest part, actually getting off the water. Once at takeoff speed pull back on the stick then let go, then pull back again and hold a little long (repeat if still not airborne), the idea is to sort of "rock" the plane out of the water. Once airborne level out and pull the trim slider up past the middle about 30% (or just below the first arrow) and now you can fly where ever your heart desires.
P.S. this thing also has guns.
Enjoy

With a bit of skill and practice, you can actually land this plane on land, to do so just pitch up a little bit when a few feet near the ground, then once you've landed, brake until you stop. It'll take time and you may flip but hey practice makes perfect

No problem! At first when I saw this plane for the first time in Tintin I thought it was a Beaver as well until I learned about Bellanca aircraft and realized the Tintin seaplane was actually the Bellanca 31-40.

The airplane is actually a Bellanca 31-40 Pacemaker, not a De Havilland Beaver.
