Introduction

The Gloster Meteor (in all its different guises) is one of the more famous early jet fighter aircraft, during its career it was adapted, altered and improved in many ways. However until RJ decided that a canard layout may be beneficial all the other improvements appeared minor.

As with most of my builds, this one is grounded in science fact with a tinge of my usual science fiction thrown in, i always liked "reversing" aircraft when i was a child, things like the spitfire look way cooler as a canard for some reason but until simple planes came along it cost a lot of pocket money to get balsa wood and make basic "chucky" type models for my entertainment.

This build had its own challenges, i had to slow the pitch controls right down so it reduced the snap on applying pitch (which is very sensitive) but this does lead to some sluggishness in returning to neutral (no doubt someone with way more knowledge of FT could have coded this out - in RC aircraft i would have added some exponential into the controls..) but barring that it was fun to work on, with very little of SP deciding to reattach random parts for no apparent reason (i only had to unstick one undercarriage leg and 1 airbrake once - i was working on the nose at the time...)

Colour scheme wise i was bored with solely doing grey/green, i saw a few picks of a Gloster Javelin on winterisation trials in Canada with a nice red mixed in and thought that would suit my little reversed Meteor nicely.
