About KRI Diponegoro :

KRI Diponegoro (365) is the first ship of the Indonesian Navy 's SIGMA class corvette . KRI Diponegoro is a corvette made by the Schelde shipyard, the Netherlands starting in 2005 specifically for the Indonesian Navy . Serving as a patrol boat with anti-surface, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft capabilities.

History :

The contract for the purchase and manufacture of KRI Diponegoro and KRI Hasanuddin (366) was executed in January 2004 and was effective from 12 July 2004 . Both were made at the Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (SNS) shipyard , Vlissingen, Netherlands . [1]

The laying of the KRI Diponegoro keel was carried out simultaneously with KRI Hasanuddin (366) on March 24 , 2005 . KRI Diponegoro was laid off by Rear Admiral Deradjatun Soetisna and KRI Hasanuddin by Commodore Djoko Soerjanto . The ceremony for the start of the ship assembly was carried out by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Slamet Soebijanto, on 25 August 2005 . [1]

Name :

Using the name Prince Diponegoro , one of the Indonesian National Heroes who contributed to fighting the Dutch in the Java War 1825 - 1830 . Likewise ships of this class, named after national heroes, such as Sultan Hasanuddin , Sultan Iskandar Muda , and Frans Kaisiepo .

The ordination ceremony of the names of KRI Diponegoro and KRI Hasanuddin was carried out by KSAL Admiral TNI Slamet Soebijanto on September 16 2006 . This naming, according to several Indonesians who were present at the ceremony, was a symbol representing the President and Vice President . Prince Diponegoro is a hero from Java like the place of origin of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Sultan Hasanuddin representing Vice President Jusuf Kalla who comes from Makassar , South Sulawesi .
