Messerschmitt "Motte"
an entry to the Centre-mounted-propeller challenge
Lore
In 1943, with tides turned against the reich, the reich grew desperate in achieving their goal, and with the lost of air dominance on the east, soviet fighters emerge dominant, the reich needed a immediate solution to replace obsolete aircraft.
The reichs air ministry (RLM) created the program that was sought as a quick solution to create a new fighter to replace the ageing Bf-109s. Messerschmitt submitted a design that had an engine located in the middle, just like american designs and an unusual center mounted contra rotating propellers, swept wings, and a V-tail.
The Reich air ministry design rejected the the design, but Messerschmitt was already making the prototype aircraft and was already 30% completed, the aircraft was scrapped in favor of upgrading the dated Bf-109s and the development of jet engines and jet aircraft. The design was revisited to accommodate jet engines and was dubbed "Motte II" however the soviet advance led to the blueprints being captured and would then be used for the development of the Mig-9.

The funny thing is, Germany made some of the most batshit plane designs during WWII, so much so that I thought this was one of them and not a fictional aircraft at first. Very well done.
Great work!
Nice and original plane. Great build.
