The Caspian Sea Monster, officially «KM» (Korabl Maket, Russian Naval Prototype), also known as the "Kaspian Monster", was an experimental ekranoplan, developed at the design bureau of Rostislav Alexeyev. (from wikipedia)

This model has featurs borrowed from the LUN Ekranoplan: namely the turreted missile launchers on the dorsal section of the aircraft.

Group 2 activates turrets. Yaw to turn, pitch to raise and lower. Groups 3 4 and 5 fire the missiles.

VTOL works as a sort of trim tab. For upward trim, slide VTOL slider up, and vice versa for downward trim. Performs best at around 30% thrust, but will easily do 400+ at full throttle.

The Kaspain Sea Monster was a Wing in Ground effect craft. This meant that the plane didn't fly like a traditional aircraft, but rather floated on a high pressure zone created between the broad, short wings and the surface of the water. Simpleplanes does not model this effect, but flying low and skimming the water at 200 miles per hour sure is a hoot :D

Happy Flying!

@JMicah4 kind of. It used wing in ground effect and only had a maximum altitude of about 10 meters.

Absolutely superb. I have always been a fan of the ekranoplan developments, they went on to make more in this vein, but nothing so massive. It's a really great representation of the real thing really like it, and the effort that went it shines clearly. Well done sir

Nice to see someone else attempting this beautiful, huge beast. I can't test it due to mobile limitations, but for looks alone, 5 stars.

@ElijtheGeat Yeah, it's pretty complex. I can't run anything half this big on my Galaxy S4 either. If you'd like I can try making more phone-friendly models.
