Colt M16A2

Auto Credit Based on YuukaNeko's Colt M4A1

Credit to YuukaNeko for the M4A1 which served as the basis of this build. The M16 rifle is an assualt rifle designed by Eugene Stoner, chambered in 5.56mm NATO, and is notable for its distinctive appearance, extensive use of polymers and lightweight aluminum alloys, and its performance in combat. While the rifle initially suffered reliability issues common with virtually any weapon that was just adopted into service, these were quickly recitifed and the M16 quickly rose to become the best assault rifle in the world. With 8 million produced and in service with over 80 nations worldwide, it is the most common assault rifle in 5.56mm NATO. The M16 is the gold standard of assault rifles, which every assault rifle made since will inevitably be compared to. It is no wonder that the US military has continued to use the rifle as its standard-issue assault rifle for over half a century. The M16A2 variant seen here is perhaps one of the most common of the variants.

The reason why the .30-06' version was terrible was because it was a caliber conversion done wrong. After all, other users had them in 7.65mm Mauser and 7.92mm Mauser and didn't have issues with them at all. @Dllama4

I shall now see if the words "Chauchat was decent" will trigger more gun enthusiasts than "assault weapon ban." @Dllama4

Lol. I still think that Chauchat machine gun is horrible even not in the 30 -'06 version. It's all good. If you ever do get to make an Aug I would like an a3 I can't wait to see the finished Chauchat. @Pilotmario

@Dllama4 I could, but I have other projects to complete, so probably not in the near future. I'm working on a Chauchat machine gun (NOT the worst gun ever made, unless we're talking about the .30-'06 version).

Also, I wouldn't know which version to do. I like the A3 better than the A1 simply because the A3 doesn't have that ridiculous-looking scope, although the integrated optic/carry handle is perhaps one of the most distinguishing features of the weapon.

Hello. I was wondering if you could make a Steyr Aug! I would really appreciate it! I understand if you can't. Thanks! @Pilotmario

@HKAerodynamics HKs have their own special charm I suppose.

My favorite though would be the M1911, because that's basically the definition of something that forgot to be obsolete.

@HKAerodynamics As you probably would have figured out, it didn't sell very well. The only people who bought them were target shooters and collectors.

@HKAerodynamics Yep. I think they tried to turn the MP5 into a precision marksman rifle.

As if they didn't already have the G3.

@Pilotmario but you didn't have to give me your whole life story. The Mp5 is favored for Cqc missions because it is placed in the fast response category. With its compact folding stock and unique modular capabilities. And while it has decent power it is unable to stand up to larger weapons in assault situations. If you are standing in front of an enemy with your gun down at close range. This weapon would be useful. But in longer cases, an assault rifle would do the trick. Personally, if I went up against a CQC mission like the one you told me about. I would have an Mp5. Not because of its performance, but its cost! It is one of the only weapons to stand up against the Vector but it is around 2.5 grand a piece. The Vector would have been ideal for that spec ops team but just getting them the guns would be very expensive. The mp5's performance to cost ratio was the best idea at the time. Also the fact that this weapon is simple and easily modified. You can attach a fixed stock, long barrel, and low power scope, and turn this weapon into an assault type weapon. A laser would be a devastatingly effective addition to this weapon seeing as though you would be pointing it down most the time and when you point it up you can see exactly where your bullet will go before the enemy even reaches for their gun, then take out the rest before they watch that poor guy with the assault rifle fall on the floor!

@YuukaNeko Should I make a Chauchat machine gun and trigger everyone by saying it isn't a pile of junk?

@HKAerodynamics I see. Though in my opinion, the MP5 is probably the best SMG in terms of performance and combat experience, although the MPL comes close.

However, the MP5, unlike the MPL, was backed by HK's superior marketing and its prolific and highly public use in the 1980 Iran Embassy seige, where six terrorists took over the Iranian Embassy in London and after a six-day standoff with British police with one of the 26 hostages killed by one of the terrorists, six SAS operatives zip-lined into the building and killed five of the six terrorists, live in front of British television during primetime on a public holiday.

While most famous for the immense publicity the SAS gained during the operation, Hecker-Koch used this opportunity as free publicity for their MP5 submachine gun, as the SAS used said weapon in the raid, and was subsequently adopted by many national militaries as well as many SWAT and special forces units worldwide.

Perhaps the only other SMGs that I feel have seen wider use is the Uzi and the Sten.
