Now i present you The mine Layer Type VIID

History

The type VIID boats, designed in 1939 and 1940, were a lengthened – by 10 m (32 ft 10 in) – version of the VIIC for use as a minelayer. The mines were carried in, and released from, three banks of five vertical tubes just aft of the conning tower.[11] The extended hull also improved fuel and food storage.

On the surface the boat used two supercharged Germaniawerft, 6 cylinder, 4-stroke F46 diesels delivering 3,200 bhp (2,400 kW) at between 470 and 490 rpm. When submerged the boat used two AEG GU 460/8-276 electric motors giving a total of 750 shp (560 kW) at 285 rpm.[11]

Only one (U-218) managed to survive the war; the other five were sunk, killing all crew members.[11]

    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and Ingham leading the Bury west
    Took the short way in
The long route back, Convoy 92
    Bury, Gleaves and Ingham leading
    Tankers to the west
    And upon the North Atlantic
Lies the silence of the sea
And on the quietest night in the darkest hour
    The Kriegsmarine appear
Above the surface it seems quiet and calm
Deep down below the wolfpack lurks
    No, no, no
    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and Ingham leading the Bury west
    In their own track
    Came the wolfpack
Gleaves led the convoy into the hornet's nest
At the crack of dawn the second day
    Bury stands in flames
Half the convoy sunk or disabled
    Heading back to shore
    But below the North Atlantic
On the bottom of the sea
On the second night in the darkest hour
    The Kriegsmarine returns
The wolfpack surface for a second time
To make the convoy face it's fate
    No, no, no
    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and the Ingham leading the Bury west
    In their own track
    Came the wolfpack
Gleaves led the convoy into the hornet's nest
    Under fire
    Under water
May 42 when Bury did fail the test
    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and the Ingham leading them into death
569 makes the contact and lead them
U-94 scores a kill in the dark
124 sinking four in two approaches
    406 suffers failure on launch
U-569 makes the contact and lead them
U-94 scores a kill in the dark
U-124 sinking four in two approaches
406 suffers failure on launch again
    In their own track
    Came the wolfpack
Gleaves led the convoy into the hornet's nest
    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and the Ingham leading the Bury west
    In their own track
    Came the wolfpack
Gleaves led the convoy into the hornet's nest
    Under fire
    Under water
May 42 when Bury did fail the test
    To their own shore
    Came the World War
Gleaves and the Ingham leading them into death
Don't know what's waiting down below
    The wolfpack lurks, awaiting you
    To follow, to bleed
It's time for you to return, they decide
Oh no, oh no, the wolfpack's waiting for them
    Too calm, you'll see
Below the surface waits for you

@STUKAGG I particularly meant you don't see many mine laying submarines built on SP, in fact I think this is the only one. So it's cool to see that!

@MintLynx It's true. The last mine laying sub was almost 50 years ago. And about the torpedo doors. I have a problem on doing its shape to be circular(cus of my skill) so that's why it look rough.

A Mine laying submarine, now that's something you don't see everyday! Also a free diver too, and it works really well in that aspect! Front hull is quite rough in its construction but then again that kind of building is quite hard to do with operable torpedo doors. Great to use with the new ocean mod! There its torpedoes won't disappear.
