Stonehenge (Updated and Fixed)

34.2k EchoWhiskey11  3.7 years ago

Updates
Upgrade in the works, spotter towers to be added, multi-ranged burst shells for better anti-air capabilities, and better firing animations. Along as my unity stops crashing, this game seems to hate really big models.

I'm always improving my designs. If you have an idea for a suggestion, just let me know.

Special thanks to GeneralPatric2 for his post on how to make an effective flak cannon.

Description
Type: Anti-Meteor Rail Gun
Crew: N/A
Weapons: 7 Rail Guns with a 1000m explosive radius
Manufacturer: N/A

Overview:

Redesigned to fix the whole "Blow Yourself Up" issue people have been having

Based on the one seen in Ace Combat 4, and my entry in the ground object challenge. This is actually not a full scale model since a to scale model would be bigger than Yeager Airport, this is a fun pocket model. In this revision, a lot of effort was put into making it computer friendly.

The cannons are assigned 1 though 7 with the corresponding cameras. As far as weapons, odd numbered cannons are ranged to hit targets at 5 km and even numbered cannons are ranged to hit targets at 10 km. An unfortunate sacrifice in the new version. As a plus though, the cannons have airburst with a 1 km explosion radius. It would be a good idea to not shoot at targets close to the cannon, like passing convoys.

Also I made the model more stable when loading in, but just be careful it is still a big model, so it'll only fit on large open areas like Maywar or Outside of Wright Airport.

@Biasunrussian sounds good, this thing is an old build too, and I've learned a lot since it was first built. Time for a remake. Manual, minor details, maybe some part reduction and performance improvement. Sounds like a good list to go off of.

@ProjectVideoGame, you're right on that. If I ever go back to this project it's something I'll add. I've been working on performance issues with larger builds, SP always seems to crash when working on this thing.

would've been cool to make a crater behind the unusable turret

this may be the Stonehenge during or after the continental war of Usea, because turret 8 was disabled by a Ulysses fragment (The fragment had struck the power supply for turret 8)

@GeneralPatric2 thanks for your post on building flak cannons. It helped fix the self destruct issue the original was having.

@Henryiiii yeah, but from the PS2 days. I had to keep it simple. The unity engine struggled during the build. Sadly I'll need a faster machine before I start packing on detail.
