Background

The BGM-105 was developed as a rapidly deployable/relocatable coastal and port defense system to defend against enemy naval forces. The Okhrana operates in firing batteries of three and carry three missiles each. The missiles deployed by the BGM-105 (usually the Excalibur missile) receive guidance information via satellite, AWACS or nearby detection platforms.

The BGM-105B was developed as a counter to the mobile MRBM and IRBM nuclear missiles deployed by rival nations of the Federation. With the capability to deploy the Burvestnik missile, it could strike anywhere in the world while sneaking through gaps in detection systems at low altitude.
