AK-74
Credit to YuukaNeko for the basis of the handguard. The AK-74 is a Soviet 5.45x39mm assault rifle designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov, and is the current issue rifle in the Russian Armed Forces. While the 7.62mm cartridge used by the AK-47 was all well and good, developments in the United States, namely the M16 and its 5.56x45mm cartridge meant that the Soviets found a need to keep up. So it was decided to develop a 5.45mm cartridge that can be easily adapted to the AK platform, and the AK-74 was unsurprisingly adopted in 1974. The weapon first saw service in the Soviet-Afghan War, where they performed admirably. While supposedly having less fragmentation than older 5.56mm ammunition, the wounds caused by the new small-caliber, high-velocity cartridge earned the cartridge the name "poison bullet", due to the severe wounds it still inflicted. The AK-74 had modest export success among Soviet client states and allies, but pales in comparison to its older brother. This weapon features an adapter for the soviet sidemount sight for a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, wiht an Aimpoint sight.
