ASH LRA-1078 Enduraliner
Main description
The ASH LRA-1078 Enduraliner was an aircraft that was made to compete in the growing ages of the airliner industry. It was made to compete with the DOU-4/5/6 airliner, and other competitors at its time.
Design and development
In the early days of the aviation industry, one of the major aircraft manufacturers in terms of airliners were slowly getting behind due to new airliners entering the market. The twin drop was already beginning to be outdated due to it being made in the 30s. The ASH-1078 was proposed, and prototypes were being produced on the way. The early prototypes showed decent performance, but had issues like engines freezing up at high altitudes, but this was later solved as the engines were redesigned. The mid prototype stage was much better, as they exceeded far more performance than what was tried at its first prototype stages. These prototype aircraft would be called LRA-1078 (PS2)
After all prototype stages are complete, the LRA-1078 would be sent for production. When production started, many major airlines would order it, specifically in the North America and Europe regions. The production list was 500 units, but it was being produced more because the manufacturer was converting these aircraft to military variants, like VIP transport, AWACS, maritime patrol, etc.
The LRA-1078 was slowly getting phased out by the jet age due to it being outclassed in terms of efficiency.
The last LRA-1078 retired in the 80s in airline service. However converted cargo variants remained in the 90s in poor continents like Africa and Anarctica.
