About Interurbans
Interurbans were originally made from wood, and were placed on steel frames. Interurbans were meant for heavier passenger transport (more than streetcars) but not for standard passenger service. They were cheap and effective, being powered by electricity and being easy to maintain. These were some of the first public trains to feature a bathroom.
Sadly, most of them didn't live to be in service past the 1940's.
