One of the first heavy bombers, the Vimy was designed in 1917 by Reginald Kirshaw Pierson, the head of Vickers. Arriving too late for WW1, the plane became famous during the interwar period as a long record setter. The most famous of these was Alcock and Brown's 1919 flight across the Atlantic, the first non-stop crossing. The guns are decorative but the bombs are functional. It also needs a bit of rudder with aileron in turn
