Erandia's Iron Umbrella

Designed in 2021 as the AA-9 Daedalus, the SA-M-9 is a long range air defence system. The system was inducted into service in 2028, with the first units arriving in late 2028, and the fully operational status was given to the system in 2031, after nearly 10 years of delays and setbacks and redesigns.

The system is designed to counter nearly everything with different types of missiles, it's air coverage using the SA-M-9-LG missile has a maximum range of 380km and represents the longest ranged anti-aircraft missile in the Erandian Arsenal. The system takes nearly one and a half hours to reload. The system also can do 360 degree coverage. The Daedalus system can "pack up and move" in around 15 minutes, but the record time was 8 minutes.

The system is integrated into the THETIS Air defence command system, alongside the Themiscyra SHORAD systems, Golden Dome C-RAM, ASTERISK-II, ASTERISK-IV and ASTERISK-V SAM Systems. The system is also capable of plug-and-fight.

Each system costs 3 million per firing unit. It is on sale to Trusted allies of the Erandian Federation.

Components

Launcher vehicle (A) (SA-M-9 L1E-M6)
The launcher Vehicle is the centrepiece of the Daedalus system, with each vehicle carrying 4 missiles. This vehicle takes an hour and a half to reload, and a single Daedalus system can have anywhere between 3 and 17 of these vehicles.

Command VEHICLE (SA-M-9 CUC1-M1)

The brain of the system, the command vehicle is responsible for combining the information given by the 3 seperate radar systems. It can manage the entire Battalion.

Long range Battle management and acquisition Radar (AQ×BM-RUL-M2)

A powerful radar with a range of 600km, the SA-M-9 LRBMR radar can detect up to 300 targets. The system uses S-band.

Fire control radar (SA-M-9 FCRL-M3)

The FCR is a multi-functional radar with a 400km range, which can track 100 targets. It is primarily used to control missiles, but can also be used as an all-altitude acquisition radar.

Acquisition Radar (SA-M-9 AQRM-M2)

A variant of the FCR, with more focus on all-altitude acquisition. It has a range of 450km.

Optional Components:

Launcher vehicle (B Variant) (SA-M-9 L2E-M6)

Mobile Mast System (SA-M-9 MMRLE-M1)

The MMS System comes with all Erandian SAM units by standard, it is a capable machine designed to detect low-flying aircraft and terrain-following standoff missiles. Most of it's information remains classified.

Trucks:

All components of the Daedalus system are mounted on the ST-4 "Rexus" multipurpose truck family. The trucks have a maximum speed of up to 120kph, but all ERA trucks have their maximum speeds limited at 90kph and their off-road limits are capped at a mere 45kph. This, along with the lackluster suspension performance, makes them unable to keep up with and guard Erandian Armoured Vehicles, and as such most Anti-aircraft responsibilities in armoured formations are passed on to Themyscira-Gladiator SHORAD systems. The Daedalus systems are therefore forced to play a more defensive role, guarding static lines, airbases and major cities.

Macmillian Ballistics

From a small startup manufacturing Special bullets, to the company which designed the most well-known Erandian weapon of the Decade, Macmillian Ballistics has no doubt grown massively in just 6 years, competing with Erandia's largest and oldest Arms Manufacturers. It's Revenue has quintupled in the last four years, and it is the fastest-growing Military Corporation of the decade. It has made multiple famous systems, some of which have spilled over to the Civillian sector. It is now seen alongside NEMF, Horizon Fleet systems and Palleta as the face of the Erandian Military-industrial Complex.

Building this was fun, but a fair bit tiring. After being told the original trucks sucked, i decided to redo the entire system. The Daedalus project took forever, and had only 2 vehicles, a Launcher vehicle and a single radar. It sucked, and the original trucks also couldnt do anything. The redo fared much better, and i was seriously considering adding the Nebo-M Family of radars, but decided against it.
