Shadow Heavy Industry, Present:

Haruna, was a warship of the Mizuhara Federation Navy during First Civil War and The Fourth Civil War. Designed by the Astradov Federation naval engineer Ivan Petrovich, she was the fourth and last battlecruiser of the Kongo class, amongst the most heavily armed ships in any navy when built. Laid down in 1922 at the Kaisei Shipyards in Kaisei, Haruna was formally commissioned in 1926 on the same day as her sister ship, Kirishima. Haruna patrolled off the Neorasia coast during Neo On Terror. During gunnery drills in 1928, an explosion destroyed one of her guns, damaged the gun turret, and killed seven men.

Career

1926–1936: Battlecruiser
On 19 April 1926, Haruna was formally commissioned at Kaisei. On 13 December 1926, after eight months of trials, she was assigned to the 3rd Battleship Division of the 2nd Fleet. On 9 April 1927, she departed Kaisei Naval Base for operations in the East Yumemori Sea, returning to Kaisei 10 days later. On 1 December 1927.

On 12 September 1930, Haruna was involved in gunnery drills off Mizukyoto when a breech explosion destroyed the starboard gun of the No. 1 turret, killing seven men and badly damaging the armored roof of the turret. A later investigation by the Royal Neorasian Navy concluded that a faulty fuse ignited the gunpowder bags in the breech, detonating the shell while still in the barrel. The turret was repaired at Vladivostok Naval Arsenal, where the elevation of her 14-inch guns was also increased by seven degrees.

1936–1941: Reconstruction into battleship
Neorasia, resorted to upgrading battleships and battlecruisers. In July 1936, Haruna became the first of Neorasian's vessels to undergo extensive modernization and modification, in drydock at *Vladivostok Naval Arsenal. Over the next two years, her horizontal armor near her ammunition magazines was strengthened, and the machinery spaces within the hull were increased, Anti-torpedo bulges were added along the waterline. She was refitted to accommodate three Type 40 Model 5 floatplanes. To increase her speed and power capacities, all 36 Yarrow boilers were removed and replaced with 16 newer boilers, and Boris-Ivan direct-drive turbines were installed. Haruna's forward funnel was removed, and her second funnel was enlarged and lengthened. In July 1938, Haruna—now capable of speeds of 29 kn (54 km/h; 33 mph)—was reclassified as a battleship.

Following new sea trials, Haruna was assigned on 10 December 1938 to the 4th Battleship Division of the 2nd Fleet as the Emperor's special ship.

1938–1941: Fast battleship
On 1 August 1938, Haruna was drydocked at Kuranami Naval Arsenal in preparation for upgrades that would enable her to escort Neorasian growing fleet of aircraft carriers. Her stern was lengthened by 26 ft (7.9 m), and her bridge was completely reconstructed according to Neorasian pagoda mast style of forward superstructure. Her 16 older boilers were removed and replaced with 11 oil-fired Kampon Boilers and newer geared turbines. Catapults and rails were added to support three Nambu K7B or Yagumo K9C reconnaissance and spotter floatplanes.

Haruna's armor was also extensively upgraded. Her main belt was strengthened to a uniform thickness of 8 inches (up from varying thicknesses of 6 to 8 inches), while diagonal bulkheads of depths ranging from 5 to 8 in (127 to 203 mm) now reinforced the main armored belt. The turret armor was strengthened to 10 inches (254 mm), while 4 in (102 mm) were added to portions of the deck armor. Her ammunition magazine protection was also strengthened to 4.0 inches (10 cm). The reconstruction was finished on 30 September 1939. Capable of more than 30 kn (56 km/h; 35 mph) despite the significant increase in hull displacement, Haruna was now reclassified as a fast battleship.

1942-1953 First Neo Civil War
During the First Neo Civil War, Haruna was assigned to the 3rd Battleship Division alongside her sister ship, Kongo. At the beginning of the Civil War, Haruna mainly conducted patrols and occasionally engaged in small skirmishes with Communist Neorasia's aircraft or patrol ships.

1948 Yumemori Campaign
On August 5, 1948 – November 7, 1948, the Yumemori Campaign was launched by the Neorasia Empire in an effort to reclaim Yumemori Island, which had been taken by the Neorasia Communists. A total of 31 ships and 350,000 soldiers were deployed during the battle. However, only 21 ships and 5,293 soldiers survived, and the campaign was declared a total failure.

After the Yumemori Campaign ended, Haruna and Kongo set sail for Hanako City, making a stopover in Okinawa on November 9 before continuing their journey to Hanako on November 12. While in Hanako Bay, Haruna and Kongo were caught in a thick fog, causing them to become separated. Haruna managed to arrive safely at Hanako Port, while Kongo, along with Yamato, reached the port in severely damaged condition.

On November 17, Haruna departed from Hanako Port for Kuranami Port and arrived on November 18.

Towards the end of the First Civil War, Haruna only carried out patrols in waters still controlled by the Neorasia Empire. However, on February 19, 1953, Kuranami Port was attacked by Neorasia Communist Navy aircraft, causing severe damage to the port. Haruna, which was docked at the time, was also hit in the attack.

During the attack, Haruna was hit by 21 bombs and 6 torpedoes, causing her to sink at 4 PM on the same day. In the attack, Haruna lost a portion of her crew.

After being stranded at her mooring for five years, Haruna was finally raised on June 1, 1958, and underwent repairs at the Kuranami Naval Arsenal for two years. She re-entered service with the People's Republic of Neorasia Navy in April 1960.

In 1988, Haruna was finally retired from service and converted into a floating museum in the city of Kuranami.

2021 Reactivation and Retrofit
After the October 7, 2020 tragedy, many old ships that had been turned into museums were reactivated, including Haruna. Haruna was reactivated on January 9, 2021, and underwent a retrofit on March 6, which was completed in July 2023. She was then assigned to the 3rd Naval Squadron alongside Kongo.

2026-2040 Fourth Neo Civil War
Haruna's first battle in the Fourth Civil War took place during the Battle of the Vostok Strait. In this battle, Haruna, fighting alone, engaged the destroyer NAS Volga and the frigates NAS Misha and NAS Arkhipov. Haruna successfully sank NAS Volga and NAS Arkhipov, forcing NAS Misha to retreat. However, Haruna sustained moderate damage during the engagement.

During the Battle of the Okinawa Sea, Haruna served as an escort ship for the Mizuhara carrier fleet, fending off Neorasia aircraft attacks. In this battle, Haruna successfully shot down 32 aircraft while suffering light damage.

Haruna also played a key role in the Mizuhara forces' landing operation on Yumemori Island, providing naval gunfire support against Neorasia's coastal defenses. During the operation, Haruna was hit by Neorasia's coastal artillery, which destroyed her No. 3 turret and resulted in the deaths of 15 crew members. Haruna retaliated, successfully destroying the enemy artillery.

During the Mizuhara Marines’ landing operation on Imperial Bay, Haruna once again provided naval gunfire support against Neorasia's defenses. In this operation, Haruna destroyed 12 Neorasia defensive bunkers and 23 armored vehicles.

After the civil war ended, Haruna became the sole surviving ship of the Kongo-class. She was decommissioned on October 1, 2040, and placed in storage at Kuranami Naval Arsenal. In May 2041, she was purchased by the Blue Line Cruise Company, which planned to convert her into a luxury cruise ship with a classic warship aesthetic.

Haruna's weapon systems were deactivated, and she was modified to accommodate cruise ship facilities while retaining her original structure. She then entered service in her new role as a cruise ship, becoming the only cruise ship powered by a Red Light Reactor and was renamed RV Haruna.

Great build. Very fun to use. Machine guns are failing to lead the target properly, but all other weapons are absolutely devastating.
