Escorting Battlecruiser Kongou

Background

The Metel'-Class Corvette is a stealth vessel designed to perform outer-ring escort roles in fleet movements. The vessel has a very small RCS and low Infrared Signature. The hull of the vessel is constructed with a sandwich design made up of a PVC core with carbon fibre and vinyl laminate. This gives the vessel good conductivity and surface flatness creating a low radar signature, and good heat insulation lowering the infrared signature and increases survivability in the event of a fire. The hull is also non-magnetic which decreases the magnetic signature. The material has 50% of the weight of steel of equivalent strength. It is equip with a 76mm Rapid Fire Gun and a 30mm AK-630 Duet for defense. The 76mm gun can fold into the turret and the AK-630 can lower and a covering will reduce radar cross section even further. Propelled by Azipod Water-jets, the vessel can reach speeds of 38 Knots. The vessel per unit costs 160 Million to produce.
