Thunderhead
Low and slow is the motto of any close air support aircraft. Thunderhead is an air-to-ground, VTOL capable attack platform. Its compact and stable design gives it great performance at a hover, and its twin engines gives it a little extra power to allow it to sustain 500+ mph in level flight. The level four-point landing gear tuned for extra give in the suspension makes vertical landings a breeze. You can set it down pretty rough and still be safe. Its only major drawback is fuel consumption. Fly at less than max throttle to maximize loiter time. Your armament is 8 Inferno missiles, 2 rocket pods, and 4 miniguns. More than enough to eliminate your targets on the ground. Takeoff and hover for max loaded weight is 54%. Pressing AG1 discards the rocket pods. Pressing AG2 discards the missile racks. Pressing AG3 and AG4 launches your Inferno missiles in groups of 4, allowing you to destroy things that take multiple hits (like ships) with a single lock. And pressing AG7 discards the fuel tanks and outboard landing gear (although I don't reccomend doing that). Be careful. As you jettison things, your center of mass will shift, making hovering less easy.
