It was design and built with a sole purpose to destroy enemy high attitude B-17 Flying Fortress and Avro Lancaster. This high attitude all weather long range interceptor / heavy fighter came to reality as an alternative to more expensive and unreliable jet fighter. As resources are getting scarcer, the solution is to built it with any available parts
