Lockheed XP-38

Behold, the father of all P-38 Lightnings! This is my first attempt at recreating an actual warbird into the game, as well as my first upload. The goal of this project was to create a realistic flight model and representation of the real aircraft without diving too much into smaller details. The build took approximately five hours to do, looking at pictures and specification sheets for reference. I even took into consideration fuel and weight distribution for accurate estimates of weight and balance. This is as close as I could get to the actual aircraft designed by Kelly Johnson, tested in 1939. The original did not have any armament, and was built for USAAF flight testing purposes only.

Don't mind the tail hitting the ground when it's spawned in, these planes weren't built to be dead-dropped a few feet! When you jump into the cockpit, be careful not to jerk the controls quickly or pull hard G's when flying over 350 mph; the aircraft MAY overstress and break apart, like the real deal. I dare you to see if you can. Also remember to trim down as you climb. Top speed of the actual aircraft was 413 mph at 20,000 ft.; see if you can beat the record!

Enjoy!

@AirForceKid and some quick tips. Put a # in front of a new line to make it bold. More #s mean smaller print. Limit 3 #s.

Very nice aesthetic, the booms are spot on! Check out my C-47, I will bet you might be able to do the same thing to your tail here to recreate the stripes of the original.

@Sunnyskies Thank you, I would say the same for you. I dig your own Lightning, especially since it's in my favorite colors haha. I have lots of things planned though, so be prepared.

@Racrandall Thanks for your input! There were limited pictures so I may have been somewhat off. Lockheed also made several experimental that did indeed have large intakes! Soon once I get the hang of SimplePlanes I'll later come back and make a very detailed P-38... maybe. I think I came pretty close regardless!
Here are some pics I used:
