Type-89A Kuroi Youma

In 1993, this tank had already entered service. It was operated with an initial number of 7 units in the Imperial Army, especially at the central base located to the east of the capital.

In 1996, an economic and food crisis occurred which greatly affected the operation and development of the Type-89. In the end, out of 56 tanks in this series, only 14 units were operational, even though the spare parts slowly began to deteriorate and the fuel was not fully filled, as well as reduced ammunition. The crisis was estimated to be due to the war with rebel groups, which led to the blockade of logistics and the destruction of many buildings, making the economy unstable. Fortunately, on December 15, 1997, the war stopped with a total death toll reaching around 76.7 million, consisting of 14 million civilians, 20 million Conscription, and the rest were soldiers and enemies. With the victory in the hands of the Empire, the economy finally began to recover over time, and the food crisis was completely resolved.

At that time, a large number of Tank Type-89A began to undergo a major restoration, thus creating a latest upgrade of Type-89A, namely Type-89M, a type that looks similar to the previous version physically, but its electronic devices and combat capabilities are far better than those of Type-89A. Then in 2008 a new development of this series began, called Type-89AS-E, which consists of 5 types, namely E1 early version, E2 and E3 have similarities in their functions but are placed in different Army corps, the Army is ready to use E3 for combat while reserves or patrols use E2, E4 is the most numerous and most perfect version among its five versions, then E5 is just a training tank, but this tank uses weapons and other things that can be used if needed. During the interview OCBN (Otsumokuri Connected Breaking News) in 2015, there were about 300 units of Type-89 operated by the Imperial Army. Consists of 112 units of Type-89A, 65 units of Type-89M, and 47 units of Type-89AS-E And the number keeps increasing as time goes by.

On March 17th, 2018, in order to celebrate the 188th anniversary of the Empire, a total of 15 Type-89 units were deployed to conduct military training demonstrations, consisting of 5 units from each of the three versions. Tanks were shown in action on a very brutal track to make it dramatic and also the shooting test that was showcased by the shooting ability of the Type-89AS-E with a maximum shooting range of 7km with an accuracy deviation of about 0.5 meters. At that time, Kanazuki Heiji, who was then serving as the emperor, was very impressed with the capabilities of those tanks. He said, "If we have more of these, we will be stronger in defending our country, and boosting the morale of the soldiers in case the rebels and colonizers return with even greater strength." He was very confident about it.
