Designed by Fleet Naval Systems and built by the Anderson-Paige Shipyards and Sathwick & Sons Shipworks, the Agamemnon class Battleships were the largest and most powerful Erandian Dreadnoughts of their time.

As the first Erandian Superdreadnoughts, their construction represented a Quantum leap in Erandian battleship design, with great advances in armor and Armament, making them the most advanced ships in the Erandian fleet until the arrival of the Arkangel class. Designed as a “Fast Dreadnought”, She represented an early version of the fast battleship concept that would become prevalent during the 30s.

10 14 inch Haymakers, firing in a salvo

With 8 Battleships ordered, ENS Agamemnon was laid down in 1912, and Launched in 1913, with the Final Battleship ENS Aigaion being laid down in 1916 but complete in 1927 as a Carrier Conversion. The battleships faced multiple developmental challenges, especially in the development of her torpedo protection systems and 14-inch (356mm) Cannons. This was not helped by the poor state of the Erandian Economy and Anderson-Paige Shipyards embezzling Millions.

Design

General Design Characteristics
At a length of 176.5m and a Beam of 35.5 metres, the Agamemnon class was powered by 3 Steam turbines, with steam provided by 18 Jansen & Rasmussen mixed coal and oil-fired water-tube boilers. The boilers were trunked into a pair of closely spaced funnels directly aft of the conning tower. The engines were rated at 31,250 shaft horsepower for a top speed of 27 knots.

Main Battery
The Agamemnon class had a main battery of 10 14in (356mm) Cannons housed in 5 twin turrets, all in the centreline. Designated as A, B, X, Y, Z, the turrets were arranged in 2 superfiring pairs forwards and backwards with the 5th turret mounted amidships.

Secondary and AA Battery
The Agamemnon class had a secondary battery of 16 6in (152mm) Cannons in 16 Single casemates, as well as an AA Battery of 8 3in (76mm) Anti-zeppelin Cannons in 4 twin turrets and a further 2 quad 40mm Flak systems. Close range Anti-aircraft defence was provided by 4 20mm Autocannon. She was also fitted with 4 21-inch (533mm) underwater Torpedo tubes at 45° to the Hull.

3in Dual Purpose Cannons

The Agamemnon class were the first Erandian battleships to operate aircraft, using a rocket-based catapult system mounted on the X turret to launch AE-2S Seaplanes for reconnaissance.

Armor
Agamemnon was protected by a 12in (305mm) thick waterline armoured belt over the ship's vitals. Her decks ranged in thickness from 1 to 3 in (25 to 76mm). The main gun turret armour was 11 inches (279mm) thick and was supported by barbettes 9 inches (229mm) thick.

Command
The Agamemnon class had 2 conning towers with 14in (356mm) armor. A bridge contained all necessary Navigation and steering equipment, while ENS Agamemnon (42) and ENS Airedale (45) were built with a small flag bridge mounted directly atop the navigational bridge. All ships were equipped with wireless communication systems.

Service Life

Laid down on 2nd March 1912, ENS Agamemnon was Erandia’s first superdreadnought, and the first of the Erandian 14in Armed Battleships. The initial building proved smooth, with only a worker’s strike causing delays during the fitting out stage. She would be commissioned on the 4th Febuary 1914, and would be deployed into the 4th Battleship squadron of the Erandian Grand Fleet’s Capital Ship Division alongside her sisters Adamant, Actaeon and Airedale.

Agamemnon on sea trials

Her first combat action would come during the 1917 Caxic Civil War, where she supported Republican forces against Monarchists. There she and Actaeon would engage in battle with the Monarchist first-generation dreadnought HCMWS Txecolnui and pre-dreadnoughts HCMWS Quetolon and HCMWS Caxeis. While the battle was Inconclusive, with HCMWS Quetolon heavily damaged and HCMWS Txecolnui lightly damaged but the Monarchist blockade holding, it marked the first Dreadnought-to-Dreadnought engagement in history.

Despite further ground bombardment and skirmishes, the Republic of Erandia would pull out of the war in 1918, ordering Agamemnon and Actaeon to return to Erandia. Her service life remained uneventful, as she received a refit in 1922, after which she mostly participated in diplomatic cruises and training exercises.

Following a fire in 1934, She would receive an intensive refit in 1935, where she had her frontal superstructure and frontal mast removed and replaced with the signature Erandian “Angled Back” mast, while 2 fire control radars were installed. The X-turret was removed and replaced with a larger cross-deck catapult able to launch AE-6 Amphibians, while the other turrets had their guns bored out to 14.5 inches. The conversions of the engines to oil-burning and communications systems rounded out the refit, which ended in 1937.

The start of the great war in 1942 was relatively uneventful for Erandia, but it would change on the 25th of December 1942. The start of the Southern campaign saw the Northern powers under Sokotia push southwards into a relatively unprepared Erandia. As Sokotian troops roared down the Central Caludian Plain, a Patrolling Cruiser detecting a force of Battlecruisers and Cruisers headed towards the Erandian Strait. The Grand Fleet sortied to intercept, finding the Battlecruisers and forcing their retreat after a short battle.

The ship would participate in the Battle off Temeraire (mentioned above), The Battle of Fasting’s Reef and assist in evacuating first Jathiwa and then San Silba, Providing Fire support for defensive troops before taking them aboard.

The 4th Battleship Squadron during the 1918 Republic Day Parade.

Her time to shine came, as with so many Erandian battle line units, in the First Battle of the Erandian Gulf. The 1st Special Task Force, an overwhelming force of Northern Battleships and Battlecruisers, alongside 2 fleet carriers and numerous escorts had finally broken through the Defensive line, and the Allied Fleet sortied. The Entire Erandian Grand Fleet, alongside several defensive flotillas sortied northwards to meet the task force, with the Rzelevnic 2nd Battle Squadron and Ludermian 8th battleship Squadron some distance Behind, with the Agamemnon class battleships being the oldest battle line units to take part in the battle. Her age and lack of protection upgrades came back to bite her and her class, with Adamant and Airedale sunk to Enemy gunfire and an Aerial Strike respectively. Agamemnon herself had taken 23 main battery hits, and nearly as many near misses as one of the last battle line units to turn away during Admiral Perrault’s failed attempt to cross the Enemy’s T.

Barely able to limp back to port, she was deemed irreparable following her arrival in port, with the only operational turret removed and used to replace the destroyed turret on ENS Adonis. She would be towed to a berth and would be cannibalised to maintain the other surviving ships, until she was broken up after the war, in 1953.

Notes

Made for Bmilan's Dreadnought challenge, This remains the first built made (Partially) on my new laptop. With 2500 Parts, this ship remains the largest I have ever built, both in terms of size and part count. It also remains one of the very few ships in my build profile at full scale. I have a few derivatives of the ship planned, with the Apollo class fleet carriers as well as the ship in her post-1935 refit planned. The ship in question is inspired by the Vickers design 472C Battlecruiser, World of Warship's Ishizuchi, and HMS Erin. If you like the build, do throw on an upvote, and if you have issues, leave a comment.

Yes, I planned to have a second teaser for the ship, a short video. It remains half-complete in my files. Remember, always delete microsoft clipchamp. Anything is better than microsoft clipchamp.

    Official evaluation

    - First Impression (5/5):

The ship has a sleek and speedy design while still retaining the typical dreadnought features, giving off a quite aggressive and fearsome vibe.

    - Design/Accuracy (12/15):

The design seems a tiny bit mixed, the superstructure being somewhat underdeveloped (reminiscent of early dreadnoughts) while features some newer tech such a catapult launched seaplane, but the latter seems to be the result of a refit (along with other things)
The ship seems to take a lot of inspiration from the Japanese fast dreadnoughts of the era with its design and especially the max speed of 27 knots.
Adding the ship's motto below the name at the stern was a bit strange to me but not problematic. The ship's bottom being so curvy and quite shallow is also quite unusual for a dreadnought, I imagine it would roll a lot in heavy seas.
The motor launch design is a bit weird to me, they kind of look like little yachts rather than military boats.

    - Details (14/15):

The ship features reasonable details, not going over the top but still working out a lot of parts. Things like chairs, speaking tubes, binoculars, even signs warning not to use naked flames near ammunition really stood out to me.
Individual weapons like the open top AA guns have some quite okay detailing on them.
Overall, the whole ship has a nice balance of details and part count, trying to bring the most out while staying within the limitations

    - Features (17/20):

The build features a long list of features, from usable, camera-aimed main guns and secondaries, auto-aimed anti air weaponry, torpedoes, a bridge interior and even a movable crane.
Having gyro control for steering and jet engines for propulsion was a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the functions.
The half finished plane launching system is such a shame, the system seems to be well thought out (although I'm personally not a fan of using a missile as the plane's propulsion), too bad it was not finished and as a result, doesn't work.

    - Build Quality (9/10):

There are some great part count saving methods in use, such as using a label image for the ship's emblem, or using other gizmos creatively to achieve greater detail.
Using the vanilla propellers to save parts was a nice idea, however, the scimitar propeller style was not the best choice in terms of looks.

    - Performance (16/20):

The ship performs well, quite easy to control and works mostly well even on the ocean mod, apart from a little bit of bounciness which could have been improved.
The weapons are very easy to control although accurate aiming at large distances is not easy.

    - Description and Information (15/15):

The description is very very detailed and is worth a small wikipedia page, with a full history, diagrams, many many screenshots, specifications and much more. While overall it might be a bit long, the amount of content is has very well compesates for it.

    Additional Points (-0, +6):

+6 for the extra description effort (lengthy lore, diagrams, blueprints, even a battle map)

    Total: 94

    Congratulations for your first place!

I know them, yes I know the HMS Dreadnought ... and other Dreadnought and pre-Dreadnought of differents countries, I also played a little game, Ultimate Admirals Dreadnought where you could put different types of chimneys consistent with the time, and ofc WoWs.. this one reminds me more of the American ships of the 30s, but maybe his ship has undergone a refit, "lol"

Honestly one of the most beautiful dreadnoughts I've seen on this game, the only small comment I could allow myself are the chimneys, which look too modern for me, I would have made them round..
