The AT-5 Guardian Angel is a Paternian light attack and reconnaissance aircraft derived from the T-5 Angel basic trainer. Able to carry up to 6,500lbs (about 2,700 kg) of ordnance among 11 hardpoints, it can hit very hard. This firepower is supplemented by a pair of Browning M3P heavy machine guns, one in each wing.
With high endurance, excellent low-speed handling, nose-mounted sensor module, low thermal and acoustic signature, and a two-man aircrew, the type can perform tactical reconnaissance and patrol duties. The avionics kit is comparable to those found on more advanced fighter aircraft such as the F-7 Viper.
The type is designed with economy, being a quarter of the price and operating cost of F-7 Viper, itself considered "inexpensive" compared to fighter aircraft on offer. This particular example is fitted to display the types of ordnance normally carried, including a 20mm cannon in an underbelly gun pod, a pair of minigun pods, standard 250lb bombs, rocket pods with improved rate of fire, and standard Inferno missiles.
