Alternator Rotator

67.1k SnoWFLakE0s  4.9 years ago

A rotator that alternates between the maximum and the minimum. Has a period of 1 sec for each swing. The input is sin(Time * 180). Perhaps some mechanical regulator applications for this?

Hey, I am making a plane with flappy wings. For a meme challenge. However, I want to be able to take off with the wings not moving, and to land with the rotators also not moving. I set the rotators (which are moving the wings) to activate 1, however, when I deactivate, they will not go back to the 0 position. Do you know how I would go about doing this? I can obviously not land if it is flapping its wings. Any help is much appreciated. I can tag you on an unlisted build if you want to see what I am doing with it. I did slightly adjust the speed of the rotators, so it is not jerking the plane all around, and it will fly with its wings flapping, I just need to be able to land. Thanks!

You might have messed up the syntax. As for range and speed, use sinusoidal transformations. Range correlates with amplitude, period the speed.

@SnoWFLakE0s nevermind it works if i copy the codeline that you wrote in the comments.. Weird bcs i wrote it down exactly the way you told, check the typos many many times and didnt work but after just copying it, it works:D But anyway how do you change speed and range?

Weird. Works fine for me... The rotator only moves when I press on Pitch with that function.

Yep, use boolean logic. Something like clamp01(Pitch)*sin(180*Time).

@SnoWFLakE0s is there a way to create hinge rotator or any kind of a rotator which cycles through min and max while using input such as Pitch? Like i really s#ck at funky trees and tried my best for now and no idea how to... I tried messing up with functiions such as pingpong and repeat but no results :D

So you want to "press" LandingGear, have the hinge rotator move, then reverse that move 5 seconds after? I know that it's probably possible with other types of inputs like VTOL, but I'm not sure if it'll work with LandingGear specifically.

@SnoWFLakE0s could you help me ?
I would know if I can make proper landing gear doors by taking a hinge rotator. I explain.
Let's take a hinge rotator. The objective would be to "open" it with LandingGear, then it waits for, let's say, 5 seconds, then "close", but with LandingGear still ON. Is that possible with funky trees ? And most importantly, do you see what I mean ?

Quick question, it there a way to make it swing just one direction, then go back to it’s starting point then swing in the one direction ect?

@SnoWFLakE0s I'm testing out new ways for Auto Walkers,
I was test this and just made making Walker 10 times easier.

@SnoWFLakE0s Is there a way to make it go on Input like say 'Pitch'?
I haven't looked in funky trees yet.
