Elite Dangerous Eagle Mk II (update)

34.2k EchoWhiskey11  3.7 years ago
Auto Credit Based on EchoWhiskey11's Elite Dangerous Eagle MKII

Update Expected: NOV2021
Completed Upgrades: VR Cockpit, RCN System, Fixed Front Landing Gear, Detailing
Current Status: Mobile Testing, Debugging

This model got released a week ahead of schedule by mistake, but I was able to run the tests. The model works okay on mobile, I'm using a Droid Turbo, with a snapdragon processor so it should be pretty good on other devices. However if you run into any issues let me know. There is still a 580 pt count version, missing some features like Yaw and some performance tuning, but still perfect if you want a lite"ish" version.

Updates:
- Upgraded Cannons, since dog-fighting was a chore
- Better weight distribution for hovering and high speed turns
- Improved hardpoint deployment animations
- Bigger Exhaust from engines
- Fixed flickering control panels in cockpit view
- Added Yaw controls, and Yaw flaps to engines
- Added some extra paint to the Canopy
- The spiny shield emitter thingies on the sides, and some other cosmetic updates

This Craft is VTOL ONLY, Please read flight instructions

Controls:

AG1: Flight Engine
AG2: VTOL Mode/Engine (Hovers at 65% Power)
AG3: Weapons
Trim: Adjust Trim

Take Off: Engage Engine 2 and increase power, once aircraft is airborne Engage Engine 1, once up to a speed excess about 200 mph disengage Engine 2. Do the reverse for landing. Be sure to disengage the Hover Engine when using the main flight engine, as it will damper your maneuverability.

Description:
Family of Craft: ED Eagle

Overview:

"If someone is taking a Eagle into battle they are either very skilled, or very foolish" -The Pilot (Youtube Series)

For all the CMDR's in the community, and an introduction to those who have never played Elite Dangerous. Elite is definitely no Ace Combat. Demanding pilots be able to fly backwards and sideways, disengage flight assist as you tumble through the vacuum of space can leave many new players disoriented. For many new pilots they learn this in the cockpit of an Eagle, a ship both loved and hated by its community.

The Eagle is a multipurpose strike fighter, and though it has a reputation for being a "Paper Airplane", outclassed later on in both armor and weapons, the Eagles makes up for it for being one of the most maneuverable ships available. Able to be equipped with railguns, multi-cannons, and missiles it can a deadly pack hunter. Personally, I see this ship as a cross roads for many players in Elite Dangerous. They either sell it at first chance they get for something more powerful, or graduate to its better armored cousin, the Imperial Eagle.

I made it easy to repaint, as the stock version is an ugly seafoam green, not my taste. But you can modify it as you like. Weapons are my standard 4x2 modular slot, that can be changed around as needed. Like all my designs, it was intended to work on mobile, so I kept the details too a "minimum" if possible. There's still an old version that does work mobile, buts it's only an extra 50 parts.

Recently I lost one of my pet birds, which wouldn't be so bad except I had him for 10 years so I'm still a little hurt by it, especially since I was separated from him when I had to leave home for work. To honor his life, and the decade he spent making everyday for me better, this ship has been repainted "Legacy Blu"

Upgraded Imperial Eagle in the works, using different flight controls, as well as those creepy spider leg landing gear Gutamaya likes to use on their ships.

@Zanedavid I like to stay around 400 parts for my mobile builds. This one added up real fast. Yeah, I think I need a hardware upgrade.
